male
nudes
Inspired by the Musee D'Orsay exhibit "Masculine / The Nude Man in Art form 1800 to Present" I started to work on male images.
The distortion of body shapes, the "zooming out" through abstraction and color limitation has always fascinated me. This series uses 144 elements to represent male nudes in an abstract way. Not to be taken too seriously, it is my small contribution of 'balancing' the female nude dominance on gallery walls.
Painting these artworks is a form of meditation through repetition. Here , form is everything - until you look at it from a distance.
Inspirations are Yayoi Kusama, Roy Liechtenstein and Gerhard Richter.
